June 2022 Morocco Customs Change

The Moroccan Customs Authorities have announced that as of 1st July 2022 the Deminimis value of $125 will be abolished for all E-commerce shipments (B2B and B2C). This means that from now on the recipient will have to pay import duties and VAT for all shipments.

When the shipper ships DTP (Duties & Taxes Paid), the recipient - B2B or B2C - must provide DHL with a Power of Attorney (POA) for customs clearance. The import duties and VAT will then be charged back to the sender. This POA is valid for 12 months.

When the shipper ships DTU (Duties & Taxes Unpaid), a POA is also required if the importer wants DHL to handle customs clearance. DHL charges a brokerage fee of $80 for this. If the importer appoints a third party to handle customs clearance, DHL charges a broker handover surcharge of $27 per airway bill.
