Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn, three ambitious businessmen from San Francisco, founded DHL
in 1969, transporting customs documents by aeroplane. As a result, the time taken for customs processing for freight shipments was dramatically reduced. The first flights tended to be between San Francisco and Honolulu but the network was later expanded to all corners of the globe.

Over the coming period, we will be investing 45 million euro in expanding and updating the Dutch branch of the international express network. In total, seven new branches will be built and two will be fully expanded and modernised. With these developments, DHL Express can increase capacity and introduce innovations.
