50 YEARS OF DELIVERING FOR OUR CUSTOMERS
An ambitious BEGINNING
In 2019, DHL reaches a milestone we are incredibly proud of: 50 years of delivering for our customers. We started our journey in the same year another famous event took place – the 1969 moon landing. Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn, three ambitious businessmen from San Francisco, founded DHL
in 1969, transporting customs documents by airplane. As a result, the time needed for customs processing for freight shipments was drastically reduced. The first flights were mostly between San Francisco and Honolulu but the network was later expanded to all corners of the globe.
Since 2013, DHL has been the market leader in international express deliveries and logistics.
DHL Express Netherlands
DHL Express has been in The Netherlands for 50 years. Much has changed during this period, but the hard work, mentality and pride are still evident. Logistics is more than just transport. Our logistics processes connect your company with your customer. DHL Express understands that your shipment is far more than just a parcel. No matter what you send, we know that your shipment can make all the difference. With our worldwide network, DHL Express delivers on time and to the right address. Just as you promised your customer!
Over the coming period, we will be investing 45 million euro in expanding and updating the Dutch branch of the international express network. In total, seven new branches will be built and two will be fully expanded and modernised. With these developments, DHL Express can increase capacity and introduce innovations. As a customer, you can expect an even better service and even greater speed.

DHL Top Employer 2020
All of our staff are trained via a worldwide training programme to become Certified International Specialists. DHL has thus created a culture which prioritises hard work, passion and pride and which focuses entirely on the customer. By following multiple different modules, the level of expertise on international express transport is expanded.
As a result, we can provide the very best service for you our customer, and support your international business requirements. There is very good reason for DHL being certified as a Top Employer in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 for investing in its employees.

DHL chooses CSR
Corporate Social Responsibility is an integral part of our corporate strategy. This means that we treat our staff, the environment, the social responsibilities and capital that are entrusted to us with respect and in a sustainable manner.
We focus on four strategic areas of involvement - GoGreen, GoHelp, GoTeach and Volunteering - for making a difference in society. In that way we offer solutions that contribute towards sustainable and positive changes in the world, such as the use of bicycle couriers, a canal boat, cleaner aircraft and vehicles.
At DHL Express we continuously work on improving our services and increasing customer satisfaction. This drives us to keep improving our processes and keep in contact with our customers, in order to prevent errors and inefficiencies. To enable continuous improvement, we use various tools derived from the methods of Lean and Six Sigma. In addition, we use a quality management system that meets high standards and is ISO 9001-certified.
Environmental and Energy Management
As market leader in logistics, DHL Express takes its social responsibility very seriously. We have set ambitious goals and want to make an important contribution towards protecting the environment and particularly to our climate. To further reduce the environmental impact caused by our business processes, we operate in accordance with certified management systems relating to the environment (ISO 14001) and energy (ISO 50001)
DHL Express is a proud sponsor of a number of well-known Paralympic top athletes and takes care of the logistics so that they can appear well prepared at the start. How did they become top athletes despite a physical limitation? “Speed is freedom! Anyone can exercise in any way they want, you can always do more than you think!” said Alyda Norbruis, world champion in the 500-meter track time trial.
