Children on a short internship at DHL DHL Express and JINC enter a national partnership

6 December 2018

DHL Express, leader in international express transport, has become a national partner of JINC. DHL will provide short internships for children who grow up in an environment with a lot of unemployment and few role models. With this program, JINC wants to give these children a good start at the labor market. Together with partners such as DHL, JINC strives for a society in which your background does not determine your future.

Every child is talented. Of all 600,000 children in the Netherlands growing up in an environment with few examples or role models to identify with, every single one is talented. JINC strives for a society in which a child’s background does not determine a child’s future, a society in which every child gets a fair chance. In order to reach that goal, JINC helps young people between 8 and 16 years of age to a good start in the labour market. Through the JINC programme they get acquainted with various professions, find out what kind of work suits their talents, and learn how to apply for a job. That is how every year JINC gives more than 47,000 children the opportunity to grow. DHL Express will introduce children to the world of logistics at various places in the Netherlands by, for example, offering short internships.

Ronald Leunisse, Managing Director of DHL Express Netherlands: "As an express transporter, we arrive at everyone's door and are happy to help open doors for others. What JINC does for children is in line with how we at DHL look at the talents of our people. Attention to development plays an important role in this. These children are the employees of tomorrow and we are happy to help with job application training and mentoring to interest them in a great job in, for example, logistics. This will also give our employees the opportunity to really mean something in the lives of children and add value in society. This program fits well with other initiatives we do for children such as DHL Kidsday and the global partnership with SOS Children's Villages which are part of DHL's GoTeach program."
